If you were around Atlanta in the 90s, 99X was playing in the background almost everywhere you went. Before the internet, radio was your social media. It’s where you found out where to go, what to do, and where all of your music and musical interests lived. Steve Craig in the afternoon on 99X was one of the voices that defined that period for Atlanta.

I lived by 99x and loved it so much. I knew then how great the quality and variety were and feel the void deeply since it’s gone.
My early teens were defined by Gary McKee on 94Q and later their Jazz Flavors program. I was 11 when 96 Rock went on the air and remember it well. Ah, Queen! Then came 99x.
I took a break from radio for quite some time, but recently the hunt was on for something in the same vein and I found it with WNRN out of Charlottesville, VA.
